If you want to see change in the government then you need to start local. You can start by emailing or calling your represenatives and let them know how you feel. Believe me, they listen, especially with an election year coming up.
If you really really want to try and make a difference, run for office. This is the only way to ensure your ideas can be heard unadultered among other represenatives. It also gives your opinions more weight since you will be a peer and not a subject of theirs.
Also, this site has a gun related overtone to it. No, it’s not by accident, and no, I’m not a radical nut. It doesn’t matter which party you’re affiliated with, you can be pro-gun. Pro-gun isn’t about killing people, or anything else like that. It’s about understanding that as a people, we have the right to keep and bear arms for numerous reasons. One of them being to suppress a tyranical government (foreign or domestic), and the other for self preservation. It doesn’t matter if you’re religious or not. Republican, or Democrat. Everyone has the right to live, and protecting yourself is just that.
If you think the police will help, think again. The average response time for police is in minutes, however attacks occur in seconds. More kids die from pool drownings than gunshots. Most child gun violence is drug and gang related. Also, you must remember the ruling of Warren v. DC, where the court ruled that law enforcement was not liable for the protection of the people. This is just downright scary. Just as you have smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, you should have a firearm. Not because you’re waiting to use it, but because you need to be prepared in case there is a need.
